William Drabkin

William Drabkin (b. 1947) is Professor of Music at the University of Southampton, where he teaches tonal composition and analysis and the history of classical music; he is also the Editor of the journal Music Analysis. He has written books on Beethoven's Missa Solemnis and Haydn's string quartets. His translations of the writings of Heinrich Schenker have been awarded Citations of Special Merit from the Society of Music Theory, and his research into Schenker's life has won a major grant from the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
